Here’s a simple question that’s guaranteed to get people talking… which is your favourite browser: Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome? And which do you think is best for business?
I’m diving deep into the browser battle today. First off, let’s give a round of applause for Google Chrome, the browser that’s been with us through thick and thin since its launch 15 years ago. Chrome has been a reliable workhorse, but it’s been feeling the heat from Microsoft’s revamped Edge browser lately.
Edge has been turning heads with its impressive features, especially for power users and productivity fans. Remember when taking screenshots of web pages was a hassle? Well, Edge has web capture built right in. Chrome, on the other hand, needs extensions for this. Sure, extensions are great, but there’s nothing like having a feature baked in for a seamless experience.
Let’s talk tabs. As a self-confessed tab hoarder, I often have hundreds of tabs open at any given time. Chrome caps out at 110 tabs, beyond which additional tabs are hidden. But Edge pulls out a secret weapon – vertical tabs! This feature neatly squeezes all your tabs into a pane on the left, breaking through the 110-tab limit like a boss.
Finally, Edge’s Immersive Reading mode is a godsend if you crave a distraction-free reading environment. Hit F9, and you’re left with just the essential text on a soothing background, complete with grammar tools and a text-to-speech function.
Sure, Chrome might be able to mimic these features with extensions, but Edge offers them natively and is constantly improving them.
Back to my question then… which browser is your favourite?
