Google has been seriously beefing up its chatbot, Bard’s capabilities, integrating it into other Google products and services and making it a heavyweight contender in the artificial intelligence arena.
The latest update? Google Lens has joined the party.
You can now upload images to give Bard additional context. It’s a bit like giving Bard a pair of glasses to see the world more clearly.
So what can you do with this supercharged version of Bard?
Well, for starters, you can identify objects and scenes, get image descriptions, and even search the web for pictures of what you’re looking for.
For instance, ask Bard for a photo of a sleeping puppy, and it’ll pull up an accurate (and adorable) result, complete with extra info on how many hours a day a young dog sleeps.
Or show Bard a photo from your gallery, and it’ll describe the scene and drop some knowledge bombs about beaches or whatever else is in the picture.
To get the most out of Bard, remember that context is king. The more information you provide, the better the results. And if Bard doesn’t quite hit the mark the first time, you can refine its responses with additional prompts.
Ready to test drive Bard’s new features? Just click the little icon on the left side of the text box where you usually type your prompt, and add any photo you want to your conversation.
And there’s more. With the latest updates, you can pin conversation threads and get Bard to read responses out loud in more than 40 languages.
