Big news for all you spreadsheet super fans out there…
Excel has just rolled out a new feature that’s going to change the game… you can now use pictures as cell values in Excel.
Now, your spreadsheets can be a visual delight.
And the best part?
These pictures stick around even when you modify the sheet’s layout. Talk about loyal.
Remember the IMAGE function that let us place web pictures in cells using URLs? Excel has taken it up a notch. You can now insert local pictures directly into cells from your device or stock image libraries.
This means you can insert things like product images or even team photos into your cells.
Here’s how you can jazz up your data:
Select the cell where you want the picture to live.
Go to Insert > Pictures > Place in Cell, and choose your source: This Device, Stock Images, or Online Pictures.
Voila! You’ve just made your spreadsheet a whole lot prettier.
And if you’re feeling indecisive (we’ve all been there), you can switch between picture types. Just select an existing picture inserted using the “Place over Cells” command, and click the “Place in Cell” button next to the image.
For those who like to keep things snappy, you can paste a picture from the clipboard directly into a cell. Just use the Paste > Paste Picture in Cell option on the Home tab or in the right-click context menu. But remember, the default Paste command will paste the picture over cells, not into a cell. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
Currently, this shiny new feature is available to Insiders running Windows (Version 2306) and Mac (Version 16.75). But don’t worry, Excel plans to roll out these capabilities on the web, iOS, and Android soon. Stay tuned.
