Are you aware of the significance emojis hold in our digital era?
In just a few short years, these expressive symbols have transformed from simple smiley faces into a global language that transcends borders and cultures. And there’s a day dedicated to these small but mighty communicative tools – World Emoji Day, which was earlier this week.
World Emoji Day falls on the 17th of July every year and this year was the tenth annual global emoji celebration.
Why the 17th of July, you might wonder? The answer lies in the calendar emoji itself which displays this date! That’s the branding on Apple’s iCal (now called Calendar) which launched on that date, 21 years ago.
The joy that emojis bring is immeasurable. They’ve become an essential part of our online conversations, adding colour, emotion, and personality to our digital interactions.
Beyond the fun and creativity, World Emoji Day serves as a reminder of the power of emojis in modern communication. It’s a testament to how these tiny symbols have revolutionised the way we express ourselves, making our digital interactions more human and relatable.
What’s your most-used emoji and what do you think it says about you?
